The Fendi Summer 2023 Capsule has landed in all its astral elegance. Drawing on iconic House of Fendi collections from Spring/Summer 1990 and Spring/Summer 1993, alongside key codes established by Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear Kim Jones, Astrology is a jubilant celebration of swim and beachwear created for every star sign under the sun.
…the Zodiac signs are reimagined for adornment by Artistic Director of Jewelry Delfina Delettrez Fendi
With Fendi’s trademark symmetry of fun and functionality, the Astrology capsule brings a bold irreverence to the season of ease. Starring a palette of white, pink, blue, brown, orange, and black, new designs showcase Zodiac signs written in English and Italian, and astrological prints originally drawn by Karl Lagerfeld. Sporty silhouettes worn on the 1993 runway become this season’s statement swimwear, reimagined in recycled Lycra and offered in a multi-purpose waterproof pochette perfect for toting summertime essentials.
A summer array of ready-to-wear styles transition seamlessly from poolside days to enchanting evenings beneath a blanket of stars. A sense of organic suavity appears throughout the collection: draped satin kaftans and dresses, separates, and blousons featuring the Astrology print that layer over swimwear; silk foulards knotted askew with a chic insouciance; languid summer knits, from airy crochet dresses subtly inset with the FF logo, to body-skimming viscose and boyish cashmere jumpers. Sun-bleached denim and silk jersey add a subtle sportswear inflection and a distinctly contemporary touch.
The cosmic energy continues in menswear and accessories from Artistic Director Silvia Venturini Fendi. Astrology-printed silk shirts, nylon boardshorts, and jersey tees embody the quintessential beachfront wardrobe, while louche tailoring and slouching embrace the spirit of relaxation. Signature bags and footwear are revamped in a synchronized palette of shadow leather blue and beige, including a hand-sprayed and brushed Fendi Cloud slider, Fendi Flow trainer, and Fendi O’ Lock summer moccasin.
An aura of celestial glamour envelops women’s accessories, too, starting with striped and woven handbags that pay homage to the Mediterranean coastal beachfront and animate iconic styles. Crafted in canvas, Peekaboo is printed with Karl Lagerfeld’s Zodiac illustrations and finished with Selleria stitching. An illusory embroidery technique using glass beads and sequins gives the appearance of straw tufting to a striking Baguette and Peekaboo Mini. In the Fendi First, Zodiac expressions emerge through colorful threads and pearls sewn across denim, canvas, and jacquard bodies. Meticulous astrological embroideries embellish seasonal iterations of the Peekaboo and Baguette bags, while a new beach-friendly shopper in raffia and summery Fendi Step Out bucket bag in leather or straw add versatility to the collection.
Elsewhere in women’s shoes, a knotted slide, a double-banded slide, and a new summer sandal assure a wealth of playful footwear options. A baguette heel accompanies a strappy sandal and a mid-heel pump, while the iconic Fendi First heel is reworked in raffia and rope.
Rounding out the Astrology offering, the Zodiac signs are reimagined for adornment by Artistic Director of Jewelry Delfina Delettrez Fendi. Taking the shape of sleek golden charms, the 12 constellations in the Zodiac family can be worn singularly as a mono-earring or pendant—or in unison to create an eye-catching statement necklace. On special appearance from the Fendi archive, classic constellation symbols and signatures embellish colorful textile bracelets coordinated to match this season’s ready-to-wear prints.
Compatible with sun and star seekers alike, the Fendi Astrology Summer Capsule 2023 eclipses expectations through a skillful synthesis of celestial motifs and exquisite craftsmanship.
